Clean and Colourful Corner

Last night while in our spare room I realized that although I cannot remove the nasty paper stuck to the cupboard mirror (left from kiddies stickers from the previous owners) I had to URGENTLY do something about it. Suddenly it was a big problem that I could not bare to see anymore. (I had originally convinced myself not to stress because we would remove the boring cupboard mirror and replace it with a pretty framed mirror on the wall, but, well, that hasn't happened yet)

So with a few strips of helpful washi tape I just hid it. Maybe it's cheating, or maybe it's ingenious?

From Pickles to Petals

I love collecting Jars. I just can’t bring myself to throw them away. I use them for storage, sorting and now for décor too.

In a few quick brush strokes, turn basic glass pickle jars into pretty vases.

I recently painted the soles of my heels, so with my left over paint, primer and modge podge I started having some fun on my spare jars.

What I used:

Primer

Paint

Modge podge

First the jars had to be cleaned and stripped of the nasty glue.

I then painted them with primer. To be honest, I don’t know whether I needed to, but I had some left over and figured that I might as well use it. 

Once dried, I painted 2 layers of acrylic paint.And then once that was dry I painted with modge podge just to give it a glossy finish. 

Lastly I pulled out my washi tape and had some fun wrapping it around the jars.

Boxing Clever

There is nothing that lifts my mood more than baking (ok except maybe a glass of wine with my bestie). Honestly, it’s not necessarily even what I’m baking, but the creating, taking raw ingredients, mixing them all up and then having some fun making the end product beautiful. It really has nothing to do with the tasting in fact. That is just a bonus…

So when I came home from a long day I knew that I needed to bake. I was looking for instant gratification, so I admit I cheated. I used a box mix (gasp). But in truth, it works. Yes, it is not my mum’s delicious, moist chocolate recipe, but it offers instant cupcakes and instant opportunities for fun.

I was in the mood for pink so added a few capfuls of pink colour to the batter, whipped up this awesome icing and topped the cakes with little flags I made using my washi tape around toothpicks. In an instant I had adorable pink cupcakes, and nobody was any the wiser that these weren’t made from ‘scratch’.
