Anthology Pop Up
Durbanites, if you haven't already been there, then take a swing past Windermere Centre to explore the gorgeous new pop up shop, Anthology.
Occupying the space of the previous Food Lovers Market you'll find a light, airy, spacious pop up shop selling a collection of carefully curated items, from gorgeous 'pre-loved' clothing to inspiring art and tasty macaroons.
The vibe is relaxed yet sophisticated, the clothing old and new, the decor fresh and clean and the art is seriously cool. (I've got my eye on this flamingo piece that I'm just begging to bring home...)
The store will be open until January so be sure to swing past before it moves on.

Feeling Nautical
With summer slipping in I am in a nautical mood.

Something blue...

I adore weddings. The build up before, the sharing of heartfelt vows, the speeches, the abundant love and merriment and... the Dancing! Oh my goodness do I love the dancing at weddings. There is always high celebratory spirits and everybody wants to just have a good time, spinning, twirling and getting down all in the name of love.
This weekend we attended a good friends wedding at The Durban Country Club and the following morning my thighs felt like I had run a marathon. Heels and dancing are clearly a fantastic work out. From now on I think I'd rather shake and twirl rather than squat and lunge thank you very much!

Taking inspiration from the way Isabel Marant effortlessly pairs soft girly dresses with cowboy flair, I thought it was time to pull out these boots I so love and give them a run as Autumn starts creeping up on us...

Winter is sneaking up on us and I am so not ready! Yes I do love boots and scarves and jackets, but truthfully I far prefer dresses and skirts and cocktails on the beach...
At least winter lends itself to red wine, fluffy blankets and cuddling up with a good book...

On 1 November I was keen and supportive and even encouraged ladies to support the men. I take it back! I am currently living with what looks like a 1980's policeman. There is a big fluffy blonde caterpillar strolling across The Boyfriend's top lip and I am just not getting used to it. Some girls love it. I thought I might. Turns out I don't.
2 days to go.

Happy Shoesday
Want to make a girls day?
Have a parcel waiting on her desk when she gets to work!
Yes, I knew these were coming, but still, ordering online feels like Christmas!
This morning I had these beauties waiting for me when I got to work. This week is going to be great. I can just tell! Can't wait to wear them, All Summer Long!
If you haven't yet, Saffa girls, Zando is a great way to shop. Great brands, great prices, free delivery, free returns and all in all a really easy shopping experience!
On another note, I am so happy Summer is here. Getting home when the sun is still up and bright is just the best!

Excitement vs Panic

1 - Super Duper excited! Christmas trees and decorating our home, festive parties, celebrations, friends, family, food, pressies, a (short) break from the usual 9-5, days spent on the beach soaking up the hot summer sun, and generally high spirits from everybody everywhere...
2 - Panicked! (somewhat). Last year I promised myself that never again would I leave everything to the last minute rush. I would have all my pressies sorted by the end of November and I would start the festive season relaxed. HA! Do you think that is the case? Nope! I've not bought a single present nor have I even decided what I am going to get everyone (at least if I had my list down it would just be a matter of finding everything).
Oh dear. I need to get cracking...

If you're in Durbs and you've not yet been, do make a point to dine at the 9th Avenue Bistro. The food is incredible (expect dishes from rabbit to duck) the wine selection is top notch and the service is outstanding. It is no surprise that they have won multiple awards for being one of the top restaurants in SA.

Floral Fetish Nailed
Am I taking my floral fetish too far? Dresses, skirts, in my hair and now on my nails too! But personally, if I may say so myself, I am in
love with this mani! It reminds me of Cath Kidston designs and having Cath Kidston
nails makes me happy.
These nails weren’t too hard to do, but they do take patience
and time, but it is so worth it!
What you need:
- A base colour (I chose a soft blue - Mavala Lagoon) but you could even use a creamy beige.
- Your flower base (I used a bright pink – Essie Lovie Dovie )
- Your flower detailing ( I used a darker pink - Mavala La Paz)
- Green for the leaves ( I used a woollies olive-y type green)
- Top coat and base coat (as always)
After applying your base coat, apply your base colour. I
apply two coats so that it is fully opaque.
Once the base colour is dry, create the base of the flowers.
These are not meant to be perfect circles so no need for other tools, the little
brush in the nail polish is perfect. Just dab onto your nails creating messy
little spots.
Once these are dry, using a toothpick dipped into your darker
colour draw little squiggles on your roses. These create the petals and define the
rose. I sort of outlined areas of the rose and brought them in making a 'c' shape
of sorts. Play around and see what looks best on your nail and your lighter
pink spot.
Lastly, you need to add the leaves. Do not leave (hehe) these
off. They really bring the final look together. Two little green triangular-ish
shapes complete your little rose.
As you go from step to step the flowers won’t really look
good. You may think it is looking messy but once every step is complete they
really come together to look gorgeous. Up until I had completed the last leaf The
Boyfriend was not entirely convinced either, but as a final picture you’ll see the effort
is so worth it.
Helpful Hint: I read that sometimes it is easier to try do the splodges
on your left hand using an earbud as it is easier to control. I however managed
with the nail polish brush so didn’t use them, but if you’re struggling keep one
close for just in case…

Still Got the Hots for Dots
I know this summer we are pastel obsessed and our prints are all aztec or floral, but I must confess I have been having a small fling with polka dots too. There is just something so quirky and fun about spots. Big dots and small dots, they all make me inexplicably happy....

Madame Zingara
If you haven't been yet, and you are in Durban, then you HAVE to make a date with Madame Zingara, Theatre of Dreams.
When this circus rolls in to town, I feel like a 6 year old again. Madame Zingara is an extravaganza of incredible entertainers, from singers to contortionists, strong men to gymnasts, all performing feats that had me squealing with excitement and covering my eyes with nerves.
Madame Zingara is an evening not to be missed!!

I bought this scarf with no plan how I was going to wear it, but just knew I had to have it. The texture, the colours, the design... it was just begging to belong to me.
Then quite conveniently, my bestie sent me a picture of her wearing a scarf on her head, with a suggestion that we must try this look. Well that was me sold.
An outfit inspired by my bestie, and the gorgeous 1950's rockabilly ladies.

Natural Shine
Recently BCBG went for natural nails at New York fashion week and this got me looking into it the idea of going neutral. I then also came across City Girl's post on neutral nails she was considering for her wedding so decided to give it a try.
What I used:
Neutral fleshy colour
Glitter
Top coat
As always, first apply base coat (to avoid staining) and then follow with a coat or two of your natural colour. While this is still wet, using a paintbrush, dip the dry brush in the glitter and then gently dust over your nail.
Once dry, paint over with top coat.
